Behavioral Health

Psychiatric Services

Wexford Health provides evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and gender-specific psychiatric care that meets industry standards, including diagnostic evaluations, individualized treatment planning, and the prescribing and management of psychotropic medications. Our psychiatric providers conduct face-to-face or telehealth evaluations for individuals in need of psychiatric assessment, developing a diagnosis and care plan based on a thorough Mental Status Examination that considers appearance, behavior, mood, thought process, cognition, and judgment—along with the substance use and incarceration history unique to a correctional population.

Our psychiatric providers work collaboratively with behavioral health therapists within a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized care that promotes patient functioning and well-being within the facility and prepares the individual for reintegration into society.  This informs our broader commitment to suicide prevention, reducing the use of seclusion, segregation, and restraint, and supporting patients who are seriously functionally impaired.

Our psychiatric team works collaboratively across the care continuum—participating in involuntary medication proceedings, discharge planning, and admission or discharge decisions for inpatient mental health care as needed. We develop treatment plans using DSM-5-TR criteria and complementary clinical assessments, ensuring each patient receives coordinated, evidence-based care with clear follow-up recommendations.
